The voter-approved quarter-cent sales tax to fund street improvements takes effect Tuesday, October 1, 2019 for the City of Lincoln.

The City recently mailed 17,000 postcards to businesses to remind them of the sales tax change, which will be in effect for six years. The City will begin to receive the revenue in December.

The first work to be funded by the new dollars will begin in the spring of 2020.

The Committee scheduled five open houses to hear from residents on the projects they would like to see.  The final two open house meetings are next week:

  • Tuesday, September 24, 5 to 7 p.m., Dawes Middle School, 5130 Colfax Avenue
  • Wednesday, September 25, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bennett Martin Public Library, 136 S. 14th Street
