Former Nebraska Senator, Defense Secretary Hagel Weighs In On Impeachment Process

WASHINGTON–(KFOR Nov. 7)–Former Nebraska Republican Senator Chuck Hagel was on CNN Thursday afternoon, where he was asked about the impeachment process against President Trump.

Hagel, who was one of several senators serving as jurors on the President Clinton impeachment, said lawmakers now should listen to the evidence.

“This is clear, dangerous abuse of power and that’s serious,” Hagel added.  “I think all our senators need to listen to this very carefully, get the evidence and stop just pushing everything back….no matter what.”

Hagel, a former Defense Secretary under the Obama Administration, said Clinton’s problems that led to his impeachment were a different dynamic, and he adds lawmakers owe their allegiance to the constitution and country, not a president or party.
