LINCOLN–(KFOR Oct. 19)–Lincoln Police have identified the victim in a fatal hit and run, car vs. pedestrian accident Friday night at 10th and South Street, along with the driver suspected to be involved.

Police Captain Ryan Dale told KFOR News 41-year-old Tina Mortensen of Lincoln was crossing 10th Street around 8:30pm and was hit by the northbound vehicle.  Mortensen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Captain Dale says the car continued northbound and it was around 3am Saturday they were notified by a woman, who said she was the driver of a maroon Pontiac Grand Prix involved in the hit and run.  The car was found on North 70th Street between McCormick Drive and Arbor Road.

Officers arrested 21-year-old Casey Maxfield of Lincoln and put her at the Lancaster County Jail for the felony charges of leaving the scene of a serious injury accident and tampering with physical evidence. Maxfield was also cited for misdemeanor charges of motor vehicle homicide and driving during suspension.

This accident remains under investigation and more details will be made available at a later date.
