UNL To Help Students With Increased Out-of-Pocket Expense for Health Care

Students signed up for University of Nebraska health insurance will be paying nearly 19% more for premiums next year, but the university will cover a 234% of the increase in the plans’ out-of-pocket maximums.

Students expressed alarm after they received word from the university system last week informing them of the changes. President Hank Bounds said in an email to students that a one-time solution will keep the out-of-pocket limits from going up.

United Health Care earlier announced that individual students would have to pay $73-hundred dollars out of pocket before insurance covered 100% of the costs. With the university’s help this year, the maximum out-of-pocket cost will stay at $2,200.
