Truck Fire Near Waverly Impacted I-80 Traffic

WAVERLY–(KFOR Oct. 15)–A truck fire involving hazardous materials closed part of I-80 east of Waverly on Monday.

According to Nebraska 511, both directions of I-80 were shut down between mile marker 406 near Lincoln and Exit 420, close to Ashland and Greenwood. A truck hauling liquid oxygen caught fire and nearby grass also caught fire, adding to the emergency response. Crews extinguished the fire which was contained to the cab.

The Nebraska State Patrol said the tanker did not appear to be affected.
