LINCOLN–(KFOR Oct. 29)–The murder trial for a 19-year-old man accused in a deadly March 2023 shooting at a house party in north Lincoln is now underway.

Jury members were selected Monday, before opening statements started in the case against Kashaun McCree, who is facing a first-degree murder charge and weapons-related charges in the death of 18-year-old Damien Brave at a home near 27th and Fair. McCree and Brave were talking at a party, when McCree allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot Brave several times.

Brave died at a Lincoln hospital. McCree was captured a few days later in Detroit.
