LINCOLN–(KFOR Oct. 16)–The Nebraska Public Service Commission on Wednesday approved of an agreement with Windstream and dismissed a department complaint against the telecommunications carrier over three separate 911 outages and disruptions.

The agreement includes a 911 remediation plan, which Windstream would enhance its back up systems to address power outages, have another layer of reliability and protection against outages with a new network path and engage a third-party auditor to complete a system of reliability and engineering a review of Windstream’s Nebraska network.

This follows investigations into three separate outages in September and November of 2023 and January of 2024.
