LINCOLN–(KFOR Oct. 15)–A squirrel that came into contact with power lines in the area of 14th and Avery Tuesday morning caused a power outage to about 3,400 customers between 1st and 27th Streets, “R” Street to Benton Street.
It also impacted elevator service at some UNL residence halls, prompting Lincoln Fire and Rescue to respond to three calls for elevator rescues at the same time. LFR spokesperson MJ Lierman tells KFOR News two of their trucks were out, going elevator to elevator to help.
“We take full precautions to make sure there’s not something else going on,” Lierman said. “They go through all the alarm systems and panels to make sure everything is okay.”
Power was fully restored to affected customers by 10am Tuesday.
