LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 12)–Employees at the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office are doing their part to help raise money for a fallen officer memorial to put up in front of the Justice and Law Enforcement Center in downtown Lincoln.

For the men that participate, it’s No Shave November.

“Deputies who choose to make a donation to the memorial can grow a beard for the month, which is totally against our normal facial hair policy,” Sheriff Terry Wagner told KFOR News on Tuesday.

Female deputies can wear a ball cap of their choice.

“It doesn’t have to be official law enforcement-type of gear,” Wagner added.  Civilian office employees can wear casual clothing daily, not just Friday.

Sheriff Wagner says this is just a part of the puzzle in the fundraising effort to collect $125,000 to build the memorial.

Admitting to being “follically challenged” when it comes to facial hair, Sheriff Wagner said he’s never had a beard.

“I probably won’t keep it much past Dec. 1,” he added.
