(KFOR NEWS April 6, 2021) The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) has confirmed 4 local cases of COVID-19 variant B.1.1.7 also known as the U.K. variant. The variants were identified through special testing at the Nebraska Public Health Lab, and LLCHD is currently investigating. A total of 7 cases of COVID-19 variants have been identified in Lancaster County:
Variants can spread more easily and quickly and they can lead to more cases of COVID-19. Residents are urged to continue preventive actions to control the spread of COVID-19 and its variants in the community, which include getting the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it’s available to you.
Local health officials also reported another death…a woman in her 70s who was hospitalized, bringing the total of 29,848.
8 new cases of the virus were confirmed on Monday.

Registration: An online COVID-19 vaccine registration form for Lancaster County residents is available at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov. Those who do not have online access or who need assistance may call LLCHD’s COVID-19 hotline at 402-441-8006 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays to register. The vaccine is not yet available for the general public. As vaccine doses become available, those who are registered will be given an appointment to be vaccinated. Appointments for vaccinations are dependent on vaccine supply and are not related to the order in which people register.
