Man Cited for Violating State Burning Ban

CHENEY–(KFOR Oct. 30)–A 37-year-old man has been citing for violating the statewide burning ban, after he was seen by neighbors on Tuesday afternoon at his home in Cheney using a rake and leaf blower to direct leaves into an open fire pit.

Lancaster County Chief Deputy Sheriff Ben Houchin says a neighbor called soon enough, to where Bennet firefighters responded quickly to the scene near Nebraska Parkway and Yankee Hill Road and put out the fire. No one was hurt.

Houchin says Sean Bade got argumentative with deputies and had difficulty understanding why he shouldn’t be burning leaves. Wind gusts of up to near 50 mph were happening at the time on Tuesday afternoon.
