LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 6)—Lincoln Police are investigating a reported shooting in the city’s Near South neighborhood late Wednesday morning, where a woman showed up to a hospital with a gunshot wound.

KFOR News has learned that the suspected shooting location was at 17th and “B” Streets and will be there for an extended period of time.  You’re being urged to avoid the area for now.

According to Police Sgt. Angela Sands, a woman apparently was inside her home, when a man got inside and shot her.  Witnesses saw two men in hooded sweatshirts in the area getting into a white car, believed to be a Honda Civic.    A friend of the woman took her to the hospital and Sgt. Sands says the woman’s gunshot wound was to the chest.  For now, it doesn’t appear the wound is life-threatening.

Police believe the shooting wasn’t random and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
