LSW, Pius X Earn Opening Round Wins Before Dropping to Elimination Bracket at NSAA State Softball Tournament
Class A second-seed Lincoln Southwest got a 20-3 win over Bellevue East in three innings in the opening round of the NSAA Class A State Softball Tournament Wednesday afternoon, before the Silver Hawks were sent to the elimination bracket, after falling to No. 3 Millard North 10-2. Southwest plays at 2pm Thursday against the winner between Norfolk and Millard West. In Class B, Lincoln Pius X upset top-seed Grand Island Northwest 9-5, but the Thunderbolts were sent to the elimination bracket after a 14-4, 5-inning loss to Hastings. Pius X plays in an elimination game at 11:30am Thursday against the winner between Seward and Gretna East.
Bahl Homers in Second Husker Softball Fall Scrimmage
In Nebraska softball’s second fall scrimmage on Wednesday evening, Scarlet defeated Cream by a score of 15-1 at Bowlin Stadium. Jordy Bahl was credited with the win for Scarlet, as she pitched 4 innings with only one hit and one earned run. Bahl also notched a home run and three RBI.
Husker Baseball Team Wraps Up Fall Ball
The Nebraska baseball team wrapped up its fall slate with its final public scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon at Hawks Field. The Red team recorded a 4-0 win over the White squad, totaling its four runs on six hits and an error. The White team was held to just two hits and committed three errors in the seven-inning scrimmage.
