KFOR / KFRX Student Vote To Be Held October 30th
LINCOLN–(Alpha Media Oct. 26)KFOR/KFRX is excited to announce its ongoing collaboration with Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) to host a “mock” election every two years, aligning with the November General Election. This year’s Student Vote event will take place on Wednesday, October 30th.
The Student Vote initiative is designed to engage young minds in the electoral process, teaching students the importance of being informed and active voters. Research indicates that participation in programs like Student Vote fosters a lifelong commitment to civic engagement.
Launched in 1992, the Student Vote program has evolved significantly. Initially, LPS students from elementary through high school, along with local parochial and area schools, utilized paper ballots, which they counted on the same day. In 2006, the program embraced technology with the introduction of an online voting system developed by LPS.
This year, students in fourth and fifth grades, as well as middle and high school students, will have the chance to cast their informed votes. In 2022, Lincoln and surrounding area students casted a total of 19,698 votes.
The results of the 2024 Student Vote will be published at approximately 4 p.m. at KFORNow.com and KFRXfm.com. Voters can find updates and a sample ballot online too.
