LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 22)–The second annual Pro Volleyball Federation draft was held Monday morning and Nebraska outside hitter Merritt Beason was the No. 1 pick overall, selected by the Atlanta Vibe and coached by former Husker volleyball player Kayla Banwarth.

Beason, a senior, has averaged 3.0 kills per set this season while hitting at a .246 clip. She had a season high 22 kills against Purdue in mid-October. She was an AVCA All-American in 2023 as well as an All-Big Ten First team member.  The Atlanta Vibe traded up to get the first pick to select Beason.

The Pro Volleyball Federation is made up of eight teams – the Indy Ignite, San Diego Mojo, Vegas Thrill, Columbus Fury, Omaha Supernovas, Atlanta Vibe, Orlando Valkyries, and Grand Rapids Rise.
