LINCOLN–(NU Athletics Oct. 13)–Brice Williams has 12 of his 18 points in a first-half spurt, as the Red team posted a 66-50 victory over the White squad in an intrasquad scrimmage at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Sunday afternoon.

Williams keyed the Red squad with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting to lead a balanced attack. Berke Büyüktuncel added 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Juwan Gary (nine), Cale Jacobsen (eight) and Braden Frager (eight) nearly gave the Red team five double-figure scorers in a 32-minute scrimmage. Rollie Worster had nine assists and one turnover as the Red team shot 51 percent and combined for 20 assists and just six turnovers.

Williams keyed a decisive 16-3 spurt midway through the first half with 12 markers, including seven straight points that gave the White team a 26-9 lead.

The Red team built a 19-point first-half lead before the White squad got going behind the shooting of Connor Essegian. The Wisconsin transfer had a team-high 20 points, including six 3-pointers, as the White team mounted a comeback. Essegian had 11 of his 20 points as the White team used a 19-4 run to pull within 41-37 with 12:42 remaining.

Williams stopped the run with a pair of baskets, igniting a 13-3 surge that made it 54-40 with 08:46 remaining and the lead would remain in double figures the rest of the contest.

Andrew Morgan and Ahron Ulis has nine points apiece for the White team, which was held to 36 percent shooting, while Gavin Griffiths had seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Huskers will host Grand Valley State in an exhibition game on Oct. 27. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.,
