HUSKER FOOTBALL: Rhule says Dana Holgorsen Will Be New Nebraska Offensive Coordinator
LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 11)–Nebraska head football coach Matt Rhule late Monday morning announced that Dana Holgorsen is taking over the job as offensive coordinator moving forward, starting with this Saturday’s game at USC.
Rhule explained this is not about next year and it’s about right now, needing a win at USC.
“No one (players) has come to me with, you know, ‘Hey coach, I think this is a good move or a bad move.’ I think they’ve kind of have just said, ‘Hey, what are we doing next?”
Rhule noted from what he’s seen with the change and watching at practice has “flowed really smoothly.”
The hiring of Holgorsen, who served as head coach at West Virginia for eight seasons and at Houston for four, is aimed to bolster a Nebraska offense that has struggled this season. He was named Nebraska’s offensive consultant last week.
Meanwhile former Husker offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield remains on staff as the tight ends coach, with Rhule complimenting Satterfield’s professionalism in the play-calling switch . Rhule said no staff members have been dismissed. Nebraska plays at USC this Saturday at 3pm on Fox.
Also on Monday, it was announced that Nebraska’s final home game of the season on Nov. 23 with Wisconsin will kickoff at 2:30pm on the Big Ten Network.
