LINCOLN–(KFOR Oct. 16)–A natural gas line near 70th and Cornhusker that happens to be the main feeder to the city of Waverly was hit on Tuesday morning, prompting LFR and Black Hills Energy crews to be on site for over 10 hours, before the line was fixed.

Fire Chief Micheal Despain says the line couldn’t be shut off, so crews had a weld on a bypass so service wouldn’t be shut off to Waverly.

“They were welding around natural gas,” the Chief said on Wednesday morning.

A contractor working in the area hit the gas line.
