Fire Heavily Damages Central Lincoln Home

LINCOLN–(KFOR June 14)–A two-alarm fire did considerable damage to a more than century old home in central Lincoln early Friday morning.

LFR was called to the home in the 1600 block of North 31st Street, just north of 31st and Holdrege about the fire, which fully involved the front side of the house.   LFR’s acting public information officer Nic Cunningham told KFOR News at the scene first arriving crews started to fight the fire defensively, or from the outside.

“Second alarm was called right away, so additional crews could arrive on scene and provide resources,” Cunningham said.

Firefighters worked to make sure homes on each side of the burning house were protected, so foam was used with water to help suppress the flames.

“It can help keep flare ups from happening,” Cunningham added.

One person and four cats were inside the house at the time and got out safely.  There were no reports of any injuries, according to Cunningham.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Lancaster County Assessor’s website says the home was built in 1908 and has an assessed value of $139,000.
