Explosion, Fire in Rural Southeast Lincoln Considered an Arson
LINCOLN–(KFOR Oct. 21)–An arson case from Friday night near 98th and Pioneers is being investigated by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and Southeast Rural Fire were called around 11pm about an explosion. According to Chief Deputy Ben Houchin, after the fire was put out, investigators soon found out several homemade explosive devices were used. Fortunately, no one was hurt and no structures were damaged.
“This act was stupid,” Houchin added. “Could have caused another huge fire.”
The fire did burn some grass in the area but nothing widespread. There continues to be a heightened alert for fires because of the dry conditions.
