(KFOR NEWS  June 25, 2019)  You don’t have to be a linguist to figure out that English is the most common language spoken in U.S. homes, followed by Spanish. But the next most common language American families use to communicate with each other? German.  The revelation comes courtesy of the U.S. Census Bureau, which released the results of its annual American Community Survey on Monday. Breaking down the most commonly spoken languages by state, the survey shows English is number one in all 50 states, followed by Spanish in 46. Excluding those languages, German tops the list in nine states. French is the most common non-English and non-Spanish language in six states, which ties with Vietnamese, also spoken in six states.
