LINCOLN–(KFOR/KOLN Nov. 25)–The 19-year-old driver suspected of driving recklessly and later crashing his car into an SUV at 70th and “O” Street on Saturday night apparently has a history of street racing.

According to KFOR’s media partner, 10/11 News, court records show Jayden Blake is on probation for engaging in a speed contest along Highway 6 between Lincoln and Waverly in September 2023, where two motorcycles collided with cars that resulted in the death of 55-year-old Bradley Krutz and left two others with injuries. Blake was driving one of those cars involved.

In Saturday night’s incident, Blake fled an attempted traffic stop near 84th and “O” and fled westbound where he got involved in a fiery crash at 70th and “O.” Blake was hospitalized in critical condition, but his injuries were later determined to be no longer life-threatening. Two others suffered serious injuries.

Regarding the Saturday night crash, LPD public information manager Erika Thomas said Blake will be cited for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and willful reckless driving.
