LINCOLN–(KFOR Dec. 6)–The latest details in a Thursday afternoon crash involving an LFR ambulance and an SUV at 48th and “O” Street.

Lincoln Police Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the ambulance had lights and sirens on taking a medical victim to the hospital, heading south on 48th Street approaching “O” Street, when an eastbound SUV hit the right side of the ambulance. Based on witness statements, it’s believed the ambulance had a red light but took the necessary precautions before going through the intersection.

The driver, an 85-year-old Lincoln man, was cited and released for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
