LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 4)–A utility box for a traffic light and electronic marquee were damaged by a car early Saturday morning in an area of south Lincoln, police said on Monday morning.
Police say the driver was eastbound on Normal Boulevard, when the car hit a couple of traffic signs on a median, then hit the utility box for the stop light at 40th and Normal before hitting the electronic marquee for a nearby business. Damage estimates are around $45,000, about $34,000 of that to the traffic light’s control box.
For now, police say there are stop signs up at 40th and Normal and that should be treated as a four-way stop, until the control box is fixed.
The driver suffered minor injuries and no citation has been issued yet, pending the blood draw analysis.
