24 Year Old Killed Roll Over Crash
(KFOR NEWS August 6, 2019) The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said a 24 year old Colorado man was killed Monday evening in a crash north of Lincoln on NW 40th and W Mill Road. Sheriff, Terry Wagner, said 24-year-old Daniel Dmitruk, of Northglenn, Colorado, was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Of the seven people in the vehicle, five were children. A 5-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl are in critical, but stable, condition.
The preliminary investigation revealed 16-year-old Matthew Matveyuk, of Velikiye Luki, Russia, was driving a Humvee when he lost control on a gravel road and the vehicle rolled into a ditch. Investigators said only the driver and the front-seat passenger were restrained. All five people in the backseat of the vehicle were unrestrained and ejected.
Those injured in the crash are:
8 year old, Ella Kosinskaya, sustained a shoulder injury. Ella was treated at the hospital and released.
5 yaer old, Timothy Matveyuk, sustained trauma and is in critical, but stable, condition at Bryan West.
7 yar old, Simone Matveuyk, sustained a lung contusion and leg injury. Simone is in critical, but stable, condition in the ICU at Bryan West.
9 year old, Angelina Matveyuk, sustained a leg injury. Angelina was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Omaha.
16 year old, Matthew Matveyuk, sustained a wrist injury. Matthew was treated at the hospital and released.
20 year old, Jonathan Matveyuk, had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
Sheriff Wagner said five of the crash victims, including the driver and four children, are siblings who were visiting the country from Russia. The investigation has revealed the crash may have been caused by the driver’s inexperience on gravel roads.
